Delhi: The National Street Food Festival organized in Delhi has once again emerged as a celebration of desi flavors from across the country. In this festival, street food vendors from different states of India won the hearts of people with their traditional and unique dishes. From Golgappa, Kachori, Idli, Dosa, Litti Chokha to the special street food of North East and South India, every taste is present here.
Street food vendors should get proper recognition
The organizers of the festival clearly say that street food vendors are the backbone of the food culture of the country. He believes that those who work hard on the streets every day to feed delicious and safe food to people, should be given respect and the right platform. According to the organizers, the food from these vendors is not only delicious, but it also reflects the tradition passed down from generations.
How are vendors selected?
During the festival, the organizers said that the process of selection of street food vendors is quite systematic and transparent. A large number of applications come from all over the country, but it is not possible to give a chance to everyone. The organizing body (NASVI) works with approximately 20 lakh street food vendors throughout the year. Vendors are selected on the basis of their work, taste, cleanliness and experience. Vendors get a chance to reach this big platform only after the recommendation of local level leaders and associations.
The special thing about the National Street Food Festival is that a glimpse of every corner of the country can be seen here. Vendors coming from small cities and towns get an opportunity to make their mark on a big platform like Delhi. For many vendors, this festival is not only a source of income but also a medium to get recognition for their skills.
