There has been no severe winter in North India so far this season. However, the business of blankets, quilts and hot suits in the textile market of Ambala has not been much affected. People are coming to the market for shopping. However, the severity of cold is going to increase in the coming days, because there are chances of snowfall in the mountains.
Ambala. There has been no severe cold in Haryana this winter season. Till now, very little mist and fog has been seen. Although the temperature is falling, due to lack of rain the havoc of winter is not visible. There is good sunshine during the day. On the other hand, despite the winter not being severe, the businessmen associated with it are happy. The faces of quilt and blanket sellers are beaming. Because people are still reaching the market for shopping.
In fact, a lot of fiber and cotton quilts are being sold to protect from cold. Blankets of different designs for double beds have also come in the market. According to cloth sellers, winter clothes are being sold in abundance. Designing blankets is in great demand. There is a huge demand for pashmina clothes for hot suits in the textile market of Ambala. Apart from this, many different varieties of designing suit dupattas can be seen in velvet.
Quilt seller Salochan Singh from Local 18 said that now the cold has started increasing and the business of quilts is increasing. People are buying fiber and cotton quilts. Single bed quilts are being sold for Rs 500 and double bed quilts are being sold for Rs 5000. He said that fiber quilts weigh less and that is why people are buying a lot of them. They have less heat and also provide more warmth.
Shopkeeper Pawan Kumar told that triple ply blankets are being sold well. People are also buying warm jackets and woolen clothes and caps in wool. He said that blankets are being sold in the market for Rs 400 to Rs 2000. Similarly, jackets of good design are also being sold for Rs 500 to Rs 1500. Textile merchant Saurabh told that this time the cold in the morning and evening had started falling in the month of November itself, now warm suits of different designs in Pashmina, Cashmillon and velvet are being sold in large quantities. He told that the starting price of these suits ranges from Rs 500 and Rs 600 to Rs 5000. Women are buying readymade warm kurtis for the festival and among bridal lehengas, heavy weight lehengas ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 have become the center of attraction.
Facing cold wave in the morning and evening
Surendra Narula of Ambala told that cold wave is going on in the morning and evening. They are protecting themselves from the cold by lighting fires in their homes. Mukesh Kumar told that he goes for a walk every morning and now light fog has started falling in the morning. To protect himself from this, he has come to the cloth market to buy a cap and gloves. Also bought gum inner for children.
