New Delhi. On SIR, no party from the ‘India’ alliance has been invited to the Congress rally to be held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on 14th December. The party said that the party has collected lakhs of signatures across the country on this issue, hence this is a party event. Now the question is whether Congress really does not want to invite allies or the fear of refusal from many other parties including Mamata Banerjee has forced Congress to step back.
On December 14, Congress will march alone in the rally against SIR at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. The party made it clear that at present no party of the ‘India’ alliance has been invited to participate in this rally. Now the question is that when Rahul Gandhi kept the ‘India’ alliance together not only in the House but also outside the House on the issue of SIR and alleged vote theft, then why is he not inviting them to the big rally to be held on this issue?
If sources are to be believed, a large section of the party argued that since Congress has collected lakhs of signatures from across the country on this issue for several weeks, it should be allowed to remain a party event only. Some party leaders were of the opinion that everyone should be taken along to further strengthen opposition unity. After discussion, it was decided that Congress would hold this rally on its own. SIR/On the issue of alleged vote theft, all the parties of the Indian alliance were not only seen with Rahul in the Parliament, but also came to Rahul Gandhi’s house for dinner.
Actually, this time Congress was not sure that all the allies would come to the rally under its leadership. There was a lot of doubt especially about Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool. Even in this session of Parliament, Congress and TMC, except on a few occasions, have been playing their respective drums and playing their respective tunes. Elections are to be held in West Bengal in a few months and TMC and Congress will probably contest the elections separately. This is also a reason why TMC does not want to be seen as a hanger-on of Congress in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party had already parted ways with Congress in view of these circumstances due to Punjab elections.
There is a rally in Delhi and if parties like ‘AAP’ and TMC are absent then the rally can be seen as a break in the ‘India’ block. This was also one of the reasons why Congress decided not to hold rallies with allies. Congress had also realized that if ‘India’ alliance parties were invited, then instead of their top leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar and Mamata, these parties would send any MP or second level party leader. This is also one of the reasons why Congress has decided to go Ekla Chalo.
After the 2024 elections, Congress won 99 seats under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. After that, staunch opponents of Rahul Gandhi like Trinamool also started appearing with him regarding his leadership, but after that, the poor performance of Congress in many state elections has greatly reduced the political status of Rahul Gandhi and Congress, this is also a reason why allies are hesitant in standing with Congress except on some special occasions.
Delhi Congress leaders arrived to take stock of the preparations for the rally.
Preparations for the Congress rally against SIR at Ramlila Maidan are going on in full swing. Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav and Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin reached Ramlila Maidan to take stock of the preparations for this rally. Devendra Yadav said that vote theft is a big issue in the country. Delhi Pradesh Congress is playing the role of host for this rally and has reached here to take stock of the preparations. We are continuously holding meetings. Many top leaders including our leader Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge will be present in this rally.
He said that it is for the high command to decide which partners of the ‘India’ alliance will come here or not. Why are the constituent parties of ‘India’ alliance not being called? On the question of Qazi Nizamuddin said that our responsibility is to prepare for the rally here because we are hosting it. The ‘India’ alliance is completely united. There is a rally of Congress Party against SIR on 14th in which many top leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge will be present.
