In India, most of the people buy fraudulently in the name of mineral water. People think that buying bottles of brands like Bisleri, Rail Neer means drinking mineral water. But let us tell you that this is not mineral water.
Crores of people buy bottled water every day in India. After buying Rail Neer in the train, Bisleri, Kinley or Aquafina from the shop, everyone thinks that it is mineral water, which is better for health. But the shocking truth is that all these brands are not genuine mineral water. Yes, what you think of as mineral water is just packaged drinking water.
According to the rules of FSSAI and BIS, there is a big difference between mineral water and packaged drinking water. Most people are being cheated unknowingly. To avoid this deception, it is important to first understand the difference between the two. There is also mineral water in the market but they have different names. Let us save you from this fraud by increasing your knowledge.
source difference
Packaged drinking water (IS 14543 standard) is taken from any source such as borewell, groundwater or municipal supply. It is treated with RO, UV or ozonization, which removes all the minerals. Then essential minerals are added artificially. Bisleri, Rail Neer, Kinley, Aquafina all fall in this category. “Packaged Drinking Water” is clearly written on their bottles. On the other hand, natural mineral water (IS 13428 standard) comes directly from natural springs or underground aquifers. There is no chemical treatment in it. Minerals are naturally present like calcium, magnesium, potassium etc. It is bottled near the source so that purity is maintained. Examples of genuine natural mineral water in India are – Himalayan (from Tata), Vedika (premium brand from Bisleri), Aava (from Aravalli), Evian (from French Alps), Voss etc. These are more expensive than Bisleri or Rail Neer.
