GurugramIn Gurugram, Haryana, the Cyber Crime Police Station South team has busted a fake call center located in Sector-48, which was carrying out large-scale fraud in the name of giving loans, Police arrested a total of 13 accused, including 11 women, from the spot and recovered 13 mobile phones from their possession, This call center was working in the name of ‘Umang Finance Private Limited’ to cheat people of money by luring them with easy loans,
In fact, on December 9, the police received information that cyber fraud was being committed through a fraudulently operated call center in Space IT Park, Tower B-3. Based on the information the police team conducted a raid. Police found 13 people present at the spot extorting money from people on the pretext of giving loans from different mobile numbers. The arrested accused included 11 women and two men. All have been identified as Shivanshi, Harshita, Mithali, Vanshika, Shiksha Singh, Shreya, Anjali, Priyanka, Preeti, Akanksha, Saloni, Himanshu Pal and Prince Kumar.
Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh said that this call center was operated by a person named Sohail from Meerut, UP, who had taken the office on rent for Rs 45,000 per month. Employees were given a monthly salary of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 and a bonus of up to 10 percent on achieving the target. The method of cheating was very systematic.
How the accused used to cheat people
The accused would first do fake recruitment of sales executives, then in the name of providing jobs, they would get KYC done by the employees and then by making calls from these same employees, they would lure people for loans. First Rs 4,700 were charged in the name of loan process and then Rs 18,000 to 21,000 were charged in the name of file charges. This call center was active since September 2025 and was continuously cheating people of money. Gurugram Police has also appealed to the people to be cautious of money demanded in the name of loan, job or documentary fee and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
