Crop Compensation in Haryana: Haryana Government has released Rs 116 crore to compensate for the damage caused to crops due to rain in the state. The highest price has been given for the millet crop.
New Delhi. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday released a total of Rs 116.15 crore to compensate 53,821 farmers for crop loss caused by heavy rains during August-September. Saini said that in the compensation issued, the highest price has been given for millet. All this money has been given to compensate the losses suffered by the farmers after the destruction of crops.
The Chief Minister said that Rs 35.29 crore for millet, Rs 27.43 crore for cotton, Rs 22.91 crore for paddy and Rs 14.10 crore for guar have been distributed among the farmers. He said that the distribution of the amount will be started immediately and the entire amount will be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiary farmers within the next week. The government has now decided to make a lump sum payment to the farmers for their losses.
Announcement of another plan
Haryana Chief Minister also announced One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for farmers, under which the outstanding loans of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) of the state will be settled. This scheme will remain effective till March 31, 2026. Saini said that as Finance Minister, he had proposed a scheme for settlement of outstanding loans given by farmers to PACS during the budget session of financial year 2025-26.
Fund also for development of urban infrastructure
The Haryana government has also released Rs 1,700 crore to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) and various metropolitan development authorities to strengthen urban development and speed up infrastructure improvements in major urban areas of the state. Saini said that the Haryana government is committed to providing world class urban infrastructure to its citizens and urban development is its top priority.
How many crops were destroyed due to rain?
In the year 2025, there was heavy damage to crops in Haryana due to heavy rains during monsoon i.e. from June to September. It is estimated that during this period, crops of 31 lakh acres were affected in the state, which included paddy, market, vegetables and other Kharif crops. 12 districts Rohtak, Hisar, Bhiwani, Sirsa, Yamunanagar etc. have been affected the most. Haryana Government has issued relief to 5,29,199 farmers after assessing their loss claims.
