Sandeshkhali Violence: In the Sandeshkhali violence case, witness Bhola Ghosh’s car met with an accident on Basanti Highway. His son Satyajit Ghosh and driver Shahnoor Mollah died in this accident. The family has accused Sheikh Shahjahan of conspiracy.
Kolkata/Basirhat. There is a new and scary twist in the much talked about Sandeshkhali violence case of West Bengal. The car of an important witness, who was going to testify in the CBI case against suspended and powerful TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, became victim of a terrible road accident. In this accident, witness Bhola Ghosh’s son Satyajit Ghosh and his driver Shahnoor Mollah died on the spot. At the same time, the main witness Bhola Ghosh is seriously injured and is fighting for life and death in a private hospital in Kolkata. The family and opposition parties have refused to accept it as a mere accident. They allege that this was a “well-planned conspiracy” and “murder”, which was carried out to silence the witness.
Horrible accident happened on Basanti Highway
This heart-wrenching incident happened on Wednesday morning when Bhola Ghosh was going to Basirhat court with his son. He had to testify against Sheikh Shahjahan. As soon as his car reached Basanti Highway, a speeding truck coming from the front hit his car hard. The collision was so severe that the car fell into a deep drain on the roadside. Local people somehow pulled them out, but by then Satyajit Ghosh and driver Shahnoor Mollah had died.
Family said ‘pre-planned murder’
Injured Bhola Ghosh and his elder son Biswajit Ghosh have directly called it a conspiracy to murder. Hospitalized Bhola Ghosh said, “The way the truck collided with our car, it is clear that it was done with the intention of killing me. I am an important witness in this case, so an attempt was made to remove me from the road. Everything seemed pre-planned.” At the same time, Bishwajit Ghosh, brother of deceased Satyajit, has made serious allegations against Sheikh Shahjahan’s henchmen. He said, “We are sure that Muslim Khan and Sabita Roy are the masterminds of this entire incident. Both of them are close to Shahjahan. They have done all this to stop my father from giving statement in the court.”
BJP’s sharp attack on Mamta government
This incident has created an upheaval in the politics of Bengal. BJP’s IT cell head and West Bengal central observer Amit Malviya cornered the Mamata Banerjee government on social media. Malviya said, “This is the condition of law and order under the rule of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Sheikh Shahjahan is sitting in jail and eliminating witnesses one by one. Is there any doubt that he has the protection of Mamata Banerjee?” He said that this is a clear attempt to intimidate witnesses and destroy evidence.
Police investigation and history of Shahjahan
Basirhat District Police has started investigating the case and efforts are being made to seize the truck. However, police say that till Wednesday afternoon they have not received any formal complaint of conspiracy or murder from the family. Let us tell you that Sheikh Shahjahan is currently in judicial custody. There are serious allegations against him like attacking ED officers, land grabbing and sexual exploitation of women of Sandeshkhali. This accident has once again raised a big question mark on the safety of the victims and witnesses of Sandeshkhali.
