Mehli Mistry, who was recently removed from the powerful board of Tata Trusts due to disputes with trustees, has now parted ways with the governing council of Mumbai’s prestigious National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA). According to a report in Moneycontrol, Tata Trust trustee Vijay Singh will now be included in the NCPA Council in place of Mistry.
Mistry was the nominee member of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust on the NCPA Council and served along with other Trust representatives such as Jahangir H. Jahangir and Prameet Jhaveri. After being out of Tata Trust, he has now resigned from NCPA Council also. Mehli Mistry has been associated with the Tata Group for a long time.

NCPA was formally inaugurated in 1970 and has over time become one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the country. It is noteworthy that Tata Trust has a major stake in Tata Sons and it plays an important role in major decisions of the group. In such a situation, Mehli Mistry’s resignation from the post was a topic of discussion, because he was associated with the Trust for years and his relations with late Ratan Tata were also considered very close.
After stepping down from the Trust, Mistry also resigned from the Board of the Small Animal Hospital Trust. This charitable initiative was started by Ratan Tata with a focus on advanced veterinary care. In his resignation letter, Mistry said that now that he is no longer associated with Tata Trust, it would not be right for him to continue in this role.
