Himachal Police SOP: In Himachal Pradesh, there is a ban on posting photos, videos and reels of police personnel in uniform on social media. A guideline has been issued by the DGP Headquarters and information like what to do and what not to do has been given in it.
Shimla. SOP has been issued for police personnel in Himachal Pradesh regarding posting videos and posts on social media. These orders have been issued by the DGP Headquarters and action will be taken if the rules are violated.
Actually, Himachal Pradesh Police Headquarters has banned police personnel from posting photos and videos in uniform on social media. Apart from this, sharing of information regarding legal matters, personal publicity and police has been prohibited. These orders have been implemented with immediate effect.
DGP Ashok Tiwari wrote in his orders that SOP is necessary to maintain the dignity of police uniform, discipline and institutional decorum. Social media mainly includes Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
What has been banned
- Ban on posting reels, photos, stories and videos of entertainment, personal publicity, religious-social-political nature in police uniform.
- Ban on sharing of police investigation, crime, sensitive information, identification of victim and accused, videos of duty place etc. on personal social media accounts.
- It will be prohibited to post any government document, order, confidential information or departmental message without permission.
- Police personnel will not comment on government policies, decisions of police headquarters or departmental work on social media and only authorized officers will be able to post content on departmental social media handles.
The DGP said that violation of SOP will be considered as serious misconduct and will lead to departmental inquiry, suspension, withholding of increment and promotion. You can even be fired from your job and if the post or video is found to be a crime, a criminal case will also be initiated. This order has come into effect with immediate effect.
Such orders were issued in 2024 also
However, the biggest question is that such orders were issued in 2024 also and in this also SOP was issued to the police personnel regarding uploading videos and photos. But now that orders have come again, questions are being raised as to why the police department has to issue such SOPs again and again.
