Buffett, who managed the company for 60 years, has written a ‘farewell’ letter to the shareholders. Buffett, the owner of assets worth around Rs 13 lakh crore, said that he wants his children to return most of his wealth to the society through his foundations. Buffett made about Rs 12 thousand crores. Donation of 1800 ‘A’ shares has also been announced in this letter. Buffett wrote that he wants to remain calm now. He wrote, “Being alive at the age of 95 is no less than a miracle for me. I almost died in my childhood. Once in 1938, I had a severe stomach ache. I had to go to the hospital at night, where I had appendix surgery.
Why didn’t you leave your city?
Buffett wrote that he bought his first and only house in Omaha in 1958 for $31 thousand. Stayed in Washington and New York for a few years, but soon returned back to Ohio. According to Buffett, “I soon understood that Omaha is my home. Perhaps there is some magic in the water here. The world of friends, family, simplicity and honesty that I found here was my real asset. Had I been in any other city, perhaps I would not have been able to do so well.”
