Rohtasgarh Fort, situated between the Son Valley and the heights of Kaimur hills in Rohtas district, becomes the most favorite picnic spot of Bihar in winters. Hathiya Pol is considered to be the most magnificent entrance of the fort. The figures of huge elephants carved on stones appear equally beautiful and lively even today. There are many wells inside Rohtasgarh Fort, the depth of which has not been measured accurately till date. It is said that the bottom of these wells could not be known. The Ganesh temple and Rohitashva temple located inside the fort have religious importance. According to mythological beliefs, this area is considered to be the ancient city of Rohitashva, son of King Harishchandra.
