Patna. After the results of Bihar Assembly elections, senior RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav not only accepted defeat but also raised sharp questions on the results. He says that NDA definitely won this election, but democracy and public opinion did not win. In an interview with famous lawyer Kapil Sibal, Tejashwi openly alleged that the election process was not fair and the machinery was misused. Tejashwi Yadav openly expressed his views on many issues including the results of Bihar Assembly elections. Discussing the reasons for RJD’s defeat, Tejashwi Yadav said that NDA has won in the state, but democracy has lost.
There was anger in the government, unemployment was the biggest issue
Double engine government could not do anything
Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the NDA government at the Center and the state. He said that even after 20 years of rule, there was no development in Bihar. He alleged that there was a double engine government but could not start even a single sugar mill. There was never a serious discussion on unemployment from the government’s side. Tejashwi said that even after 20 years, visible development was not visible and the government could not provide employment.
Our vote percentage increased, defeat doubtful
Tejashwi Yadav does not consider the huge decline in seats to be digestible and claims that at many places the margin was very less, some seats were lost by thousands or a hundred times less votes. Regarding this, he expressed doubt on the election process and counting of votes. Raising questions on the election results, Tejashwi Yadav said that RJD’s vote percentage has increased in this election and it lost on many seats by very less votes. He claimed, even many victorious candidates of BJP and JDU are unable to believe how they won.
money and machinery misused
Tejashwi Yadav alleged that before the implementation of the election code of conduct, money was distributed directly to the people in the name of various schemes. He said, we do not consider it less than election bribery. About Rs 40 thousand crores were distributed across the state in various schemes. According to Tejashwi Yadav, crores of rupees were directly distributed in the state through several schemes, which he considers as ‘election bribery’. Tejashwi believes that this affected the decision of common voters.
Role of Election Commission doubtful
Tejashwi also raised questions on EVMs and Election Commission. He said, the public wanted change, EVMs did not want it. The Election Commission did not take action on our complaints and the Election Commission appeared to be in a dishonest mood. He even said that in the current situation the election process has no meaning because everything seems to be pre-decided. Tejashwi said that due to non-redressal of complaints, democracy was affected and the meaning of elections was reduced. Tejashwi Yadav said that people are not able to understand this result nor are they able to accept it.
People are not able to accept our defeat
Tejashwi said, the public wanted change. Our vision and manifesto were close to the people but the ruling party tried to grab votes by implementing our plans. Tejashwi Yadav clearly said that he and his supporters were not able to accept this defeat easily. He took the pulse of the public and said that people wanted change, but the methods of elections prevented that change. Tejashwi indicated that he will remain active regarding these allegations and concerns in the future and will continue to raise his voice to protect democracy.
