Such crimes can be prevented by timely identification and treatment. The doctor said that it is possible that this woman may also have antisocial personality tendencies.
Faridabad: An incident that came to light in Panipat district of Haryana has shaken people to the core. The reason given by the woman who was arrested by the police stunned everyone. The accused told that whenever she saw a beautiful girl or child, she used to target her. His obsession was so dangerous that he killed his own son to avoid suspicion. It has come to light that four children were killed at different places in two years.
What is the doctor’s opinion on this?
In conversation with Local18, Dr. Sunil Goyal, Senior Consultant Psychiatry, Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad, gave his opinion on this matter. Dr. Goyal told that he has also read the case of this woman named Poonam in the news and the way children were murdered continuously, it is clear that there is definitely a deep disturbance in the mental condition somewhere. According to the doctor, a kind of personality disorder is often seen in such cases.
what is the reason
He told that this problem related to personality can happen due to many reasons, some big accident in childhood, a hurtful thing said by someone or the way of thinking changed with time. There are many people who do not have any feelings for others. No sympathy, no affection. They only think about themselves and they don’t care if they hurt or harm anyone. The doctor said that it is possible that this woman may also have tendencies like antisocial personality in which a person is aware of the seriousness of his actions but the inner voice that stops him has vanished.
What do patients think?
Doctor Sunil Goyal told that a special thing is seen in such patients, they understand that they are doing wrong. They know that they are killing someone, but still they do not stop. However, in some very rare cases, the mental illness is so severe that the person does not realize what he has done. Only after examination by the doctors can it be decided what is the level of the woman’s illness.
Improvement through treatment and counseling
He further said that in government hospitals, a board is formed for such cases in which two or three doctors together examine whether the accused is mentally ill or not. This also decides how much responsibility for the crime lies on that person. Doctors say that whether the disease is mild or severe, treatment and counseling can significantly improve the behavior of such people.
This case of Panipat is not just a crime but a big question is whether the lack of awareness in the society to identify and treat mental illnesses in time is also becoming the reason for such crimes.
