According to the information, DSP Amit Thakur is a resident of Sirmaur district. He is a 2012 batch HPPS officer. Amit Thakur studied from Shimla and then got a job as DSP in the police.

In the year 2016, when DSP Amit was posted in Shimla, he had a dispute with the taxi drivers and during this the police even lathicharged the taxi drivers. During this time too, questions were raised on him and later the government transferred him. Even a judicial inquiry into the incident was ordered.

For the last 770 days, the visually impaired have been protesting in Shimla for their demands. During the protest on Wednesday, when the visually impaired people tried to block the road, the police used force and during this, the DSP caught a person and said that if he raised his voice, his heartbeat would stop. Later, SDM Oshin Sharma also came to convince everyone, but during the debate, she also got enraged due to sloganeering and left the spot.
