Gujarat News: The biggest problem for farmers in fields adjacent to forests is Nilgai, wild boar and other stray wildlife, which destroy crops. Farmers have to stand guard day and night, because the expense of erecting strong fencing is beyond the means of most farmers. But an ordinary farmer from Gujarat, without spending a single rupee, has come up with a home-made jugaad which is expert in driving animals away from the fields.
This story is of Vihabhai Mesuriya of Khadsali village of Amreli district. Whose discovery is becoming an example for other farmers. Vihabhai Mesuriya cultivates groundnut and soybean on 17 bigha land. The terror of Nilgai and wild boars was common in his fields situated on the edge of the forest. These animals would destroy crops overnight and cause huge losses.
device made from empty oil cans
Traditional methods like tarpaulin fencing, electric fencing or shock machines were not only costly but sometimes also led to the death of animals. Vihabhai thought, why not make something from household items which is cheap and effective too. Then he created a simple but miraculous device made from empty old oil cans.
This jugaad is so simple and cheap that every farmer can make it sitting at home and that too without spending a single penny. Vihabhai Mesuriya used old empty oil tins as his weapon. First of all, both ends of the tin are cut with scissors or a knife in such a way that the cuts are in opposite directions and the tin takes a fan-like shape. Then these tins are hung on poles or wires installed in the middle of the field.
old shiny battery inside tin
This is enough. Even a slight gust of wind makes these tins rotate rapidly. An old shiny battery (which is thrown in the garbage) is placed inside each tin, whose glow spreads far and wide as it rotates. In the darkness of the night, these rotating lights seem like a threat to the Nilgai, wild boar and other animals and they do not even wander around the fields.
In this way the crop remains completely safe and the farmer does not need to stay awake the whole night. Be it Nilgai or wild boar, these animals consider the flashing light as a threat and immediately run away from the field. Vihabhai says that now there is no need to keep guard at night and the crop remains safe from sowing to harvesting.
Not a single rupee spent
This indigenous Jugaad is no less than a boon for the farmers. The biggest advantage is that it does not cost even a single rupee to make it. Only the garbage lying in the houses and villages is useful. It is completely eco-friendly as it does not harm animals, only scares them away with flashing lights. It is very easy to make and once installed, it continues to run for years because it requires neither electricity nor fuel.
This small discovery can bring a revolution in areas surrounded by forests like Amreli. This simple trick of Vihabhai is now not only saving his fields but is also giving new hope to the entire village and surrounding farmers. Its pictures and videos are becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which everything from tin cutting to glowing rotating lights at night is clearly visible.
