A nursery worker has admitted sexually abusing young children in his care in north London.
Vincent Chan, 45, appeared at Wood Green Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 26 charges including sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault by contact and making indecent images representing the most serious category of child sexual abuse.
The investigation into Chan followed a tip-off from a whistleblower and became one of the most “heartbreaking and complex” cases undertaken by the Metropolitan Police, the force said.
Chan, of Stanhope Avenue in Finchley, will be sentenced on January 23.
Detective Constable Lewis Basford, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, said the offenses had caused “deep shock and distress”.
The force said it was one of the most complex and disturbing cases officers had investigated.
Chan started working at the nursery in 2017 and took on various roles including art specialist, ward leader and nursery nurse.
She was entrusted with the care of children between two and four years old.
Chan first gained attention for filming the children in his care and overlaying the video with audio.
Relatives of many of the victims sat in the dock as the charges were read, many of them crying.
