Nainital News: A new era of postal services is going to start in Uttarakhand. The state’s first GEN-G (Next Generation) post office is going to open soon in Haldwani. This hi-tech post office will provide fast, smart and convenient services to youth, students and digital users.
Nainital: A new era of postal services is going to start in Uttarakhand. Moving ahead from the old pattern of traditional post offices, the state’s first GEN-G (Next Generation) post office is going to be ready in Haldwani soon. This hi-tech post office is not only being built keeping the youth in mind, but digital and modern facilities are being included in it which will be seen for the first time in a government post office.
According to the Postal Department, the objective of GEN-G Post Office is to provide fast, smart and convenient services to the youth, students and digital users. There will be facilities ranging from high-tech counters, automated token systems, digital screens, parcel tracking kiosks to free high-speed Wi-Fi. The special thing is that this will be one of the few post offices in the country where an in-house café will also be present, so that customers can wait for their turn with comfort and convenience.
Post offices will open in educational institutions also
As part of a new initiative to increase its reach among the youth, the Postal Department is preparing to open GEN-G post offices in educational institutions of the state in the future. These post offices to be built in college campuses will be equipped with facilities like modern interior, café and Wi-Fi, so that the youth can easily use the postal services.
Next generation post office will be
Senior Superintendent of Nainital Postal Division, Amit Dutt said that the GEN-G model is being implemented rapidly across the country. At present, one post office has been selected in Nainital division, the process of converting it into a next generation post office is underway. The idea is to open the first GEN-G post office at MBPG College, Haldwani. In future, such modern post offices will be established at other places also. With this initiative, it is expected that the nature of the postal department will completely change and the youth will once again be strongly connected with the postal services.
