Steamed Manchurian Recipe: Indo-Chinese dishes are very popular in Indian homes. Especially Manchurian, which is liked by everyone from small children to adults. Manchurian balls prepared from grated carrots, cabbage and capsicum become soft, juicy and light when steamed. These balls are served mixed in gravy made from mild spices and sauces, which makes it very tasty to eat.

Ingredients to make Steamed Manchurian
For Manchurian Balls:
-Grated cabbage – 1 cup
-Grated carrots – ½ cup
-Finely chopped capsicum – ¼ cup
-finely chopped green onion – 2 tbsp
-Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
-Flour – 2 tbsp
-Cornflour – 2 tbsp
-Black pepper – ½ tsp
-Salt – as per taste
-Soy sauce – 1 tsp
For gravy:
-Oil – 1 tsp (optional)
-Chopped garlic – 1 tablespoon
-Chopped ginger – 1 tsp
-Chopped green chilli – 1
-Onion – ½ cup (chopped)
-Capsicum – ½ cup
-Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
-Tomato sauce – 1 tablespoon
-Red chilli sauce – 1 tsp
-Vinegar – ½ tsp
-Cornflour – 1 tablespoon (dissolved in ½ cup water)
-Salt – as per taste
-Black pepper – ½ tsp
-Green onion – for garnish
Method of preparation
1. Prepare the vegetables
Put all the chopped and grated vegetables in a vessel. Add light salt and keep it for 10 minutes. This will remove excess water from the vegetables. Then squeeze it lightly and remove the water.
2. Prepare Manchurian Balls
Add flour, cornflour, soy sauce, black pepper and some salt to the vegetables. Mix all the ingredients well and make small balls.
3. Steam the balls
Heat water in a steamer and place the balls in a steel plate or steamer tray. Cook in steam for 10-12 minutes on medium flame. The balls are ready when they become slightly hard.
4. Make gravy
Add oil in a pan (or you can make it without oil also). Lightly fry garlic, ginger and green chillies in it. Now add onion and capsicum and cook for 2 minutes.
Add soya sauce, tomato sauce, red chilli sauce and vinegar. Add ½ cup water and boil. Now add cornflour solution and cook for 1 minute until the gravy becomes thick.
5. Add the balls to the gravy
Put the prepared steamed balls in the gravy and cook on low flame for 1-2 minutes. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
