Ingredients (for 4 people)
Semolina – 1 cup
Curd – ½ cup
Water – as per requirement
Onion – 1 finely chopped
Carrot – ½ cup grated
Green chilli – 2 finely chopped
Ginger – 1 inch grated
Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
Salt – as per taste
Eno or baking soda – ½ tsp
Oil – for applying in appe pan
Method of preparation
1. Prepare the batter
Add semolina and curd in a vessel and mix well.
Add water little by little to keep the batter medium thick.
Now add onion, carrot, green chilli, ginger and coriander leaves.
Add salt and let the batter set for 10-15 minutes.
2. Add Eno to inflate
Add Eno or baking soda to the batter and add little water and mix immediately.
This will make the appe puffy and spongy.
3. Cook Appe in Pan
Heat the appe pan and apply light oil in each groove.
Pour the batter into the grooves, cover and cook on medium flame.
After 2-3 minutes, turn it over and cook from the other side also until it becomes golden.
serving method
Serve hot semolina appe with coconut chutney, green chutney or sambar. If you want, you can also eat it with tomato sauce.

To increase protein, you can add small pieces of cheese in the batter.
If you wish, add vegetables like spinach, capsicum also.
