Vijay Mallya- The government said that Vijay Mallya owes Rs 22,065 crore including principal and interest. More than Rs 14,000 crore have also been recovered by confiscating Mallya’s properties.
New Delhi. Vijay Mallya, who fled abroad after defrauding the country’s banks, has accused the government and banks of not maintaining transparency in loan recovery. Mallya, in a post on X, has even demanded a probe into the amount recovered so far from a retired judge. Mallya says that banks and government ministers have given different figures regarding the loan outstanding against him. However, X-users did not like Vijay Mallya’s arguments at all and slammed the fugitive economic criminal.
Vijay Mallya wrote on Twitter, “Finance Minister tells Parliament that Rs 14,100 crore was recovered from me. Banks say Rs 10,000 crore was recovered. What about the difference of Rs 4,000 crore? Now, Minister of State for Finance tells Parliament that I still owe Rs 10,000 crore, while banks claim I am owed Rs 7,000 crore.” There is no account statement or deposit of the amount recovered, why was a retired judge not appointed to find out the truth? This is a pathetic situation for me.
