People are not only getting fresh green leaves at home. In fact, they are also using the empty space on the roof in a better way. This method is becoming very popular among working families in cities. Coriander grown on the terrace is absolutely fresh and without any chemicals. Besides, the expenses are also very less.
Horticulture Department official Sanjay Bhagat said that Chandrahasini-2 variety of coriander leaves is being planted by the farmers in Chhattisgarh, the yield of which is very good, the coriander leaves are leafy like the native coriander. Coriander seeds are also being used for torches.
How to cultivate coriander on the terrace
1. Choose the right pot or tray 4–6 inches deep tray or pot is enough for coriander. Light and strong plastic pot is considered more useful on the terrace.
2. Prepare soil and fertilizerCoriander grows quickly in loose, fertile soil. Mixing soil, cow dung and sand in the ratio of 2:1:1 gives best results. To grow coriander, coriander can also be planted by making beds on the soil at a distance of 20-20 cm.
3. Method of sowing seeds
Sowing coriander seeds by lightly crushing them helps in quick germination. Spread the seeds evenly on the surface of the soil and cover them with light soil or cow dung manure. It is very important to treat fungicides while sowing seeds.
4. Correct amount of water: Excessive water after sowing the seeds can cause harm, light irrigation should be done after sowing, during irrigation it has to be kept in mind that the seeds do not come above the soil. Light irrigation in the morning or evening is sufficient. It is important to maintain moisture in the pot on the terrace when there is excessive sunlight.
5. Crop ready in 25–30 days: Coriander is ready for harvesting in 3–4 weeks. Once applied, you get fresh leaves continuously for several weeks.
