On the first day of Bihar Assembly, there was a light conversation between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, due to which the atmosphere of the House appeared pleasant. The session of the 18th Assembly started with the swearing-in, in which all the newly elected MLAs took oath in the presence of the Protem Speaker.
Patna: The new session of Bihar Assembly started today. On the very first day, a scene was seen in the House which caught everyone’s attention. There was a short conversation using gestures between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. And Tejashwi’s laughter made the whole atmosphere light-hearted. After the election results, Tejashwi had maintained distance from the media, hence this glimpse of him seemed even more special.
Tejashwi Yadav had maintained distance from the media since the elections. He also congratulated Nitish only through tweet. But today both the leaders came face to face in the House. There was a short conversation, Tejashwi smiled and the atmosphere became light for some time. It seemed as if a friendly moment had come to a standstill in the House amidst the political heat.
Nitish’s return
This spectacular victory of NDA gave Nitish Kumar a chance to become the Chief Minister for the tenth time. With the new session, expectations are also new and from the opposition to the government, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the politics of the coming days. This light moment of the first day shows that even amidst the tension in politics, some smiles find a place.
MLAs took oath
The first session of the 18th Bihar Assembly began with the swearing-in of newly elected MLAs.
Protem Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav, appointed by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, administered the oath to all the MLAs. Tarapur MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary was the first to take oath. After him, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha took oath, who has won from Lakhisarai for the fourth consecutive time. After the oath, all the ministers met and greeted Protem Speaker and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Election result and new equation
The election results on November 14 changed the picture of Bihar politics. NDA got a landslide victory and captured 202 seats in the 243-member assembly.
BJP emerged as the largest party with 89 seats, while JDU got 85 seats and LJP (Ram Vilas) 19 seats.
In contrast, the Grand Alliance was reduced to only 35 seats. RJD got 25 seats and Congress only 6 seats. Even after this huge defeat, Tejashwi has been elected the leader of the Grand Alliance and the RJD Legislative Party, and he is playing the role of Leader of Opposition.
