If any elderly person in your house travels by train and gets an upper berth every time, then now there is news of relief. A railway TTE has revealed a secret trick by which a senior citizen can always get a lower berth. By knowing this small booking formula, your every journey will become comfortable.
New Delhi. It is often seen that elderly passengers do not get lower berths, although they have been given priority in railway rules. Recently, in a video that went viral on social media, the TTE of New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express told that many passengers make a mistake while booking. Actually, when three or more senior citizens book tickets together, the system is not able to give lower seats to everyone.
Guaranteed way to get lower berth
TTE told that if two senior citizens book tickets together, they have the highest chances of getting a lower berth. But if four people are traveling together, then they should book separate tickets in groups of two. Due to this, the system tries to give the lower seat to both the passengers, which almost guarantees getting the lower berth.
Turn on ‘Secret’ option of IRCTC
While booking tickets on IRCTC, there is a special option – ‘Book only if lower berth is available.’ By choosing this, your ticket will be confirmed only when the lower berth is vacant. If there is no lower seat, the system will not book the ticket. This feature has been specially designed for senior citizens, women above 45 years of age, pregnant women and disabled passengers, so that they can get convenience in travelling.
Now traveling will become comfortable and hassle-free
This rule of Railways and the trick suggested by TTE is a news of relief for lakhs of passengers. Now elderly passengers will not have the problem of climbing up and every journey will become more comfortable than before. Keep these small things in mind while booking bus tickets and end the worry of lower berth forever.
