A video from Nawada district of Bihar is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this video, it can be seen that after stopping a potato laden pickup, the policeman has been accused of demanding four-five potatoes from the driver as ‘jugaad’.
Nawada: A video related to Rajauli check post of Nawada district of Bihar is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It is being claimed in the viral video that during night patrolling, the policeman stopped a pickup vehicle laden with potatoes and asked the driver to give him four-five potatoes. In the viral clip, a conversation between the pickup driver and the policeman is heard, in which ‘Kathi is loaded?’ It is being claimed that questions were asked and later there was discussion about giving potatoes as bribe. However, Local 18 does not confirm this viral video.
The 58 second viral video is said to be related to Rajauli check post. Where vehicles were being checked at night. In the viral video, the pickup driver is heard saying that the vehicle is loaded with potatoes and the sack is covered with a net. During the conversation, an argument-like situation seems to arise between the driver and the policeman. At the end of the video, the driver is heard saying that when he gets his salary then what should be spent on, after which the policeman is seen raising his hand towards the mobile phone. The driver made a video of the entire incident and posted it on social media, which is now going viral.
Question on police functioning
After this video surfaced, discussions have started at the local level. People are raising questions on the functioning of the police through social media, while local people also say that this video has surfaced on social media and in many cases, there are no records of police incidents. At present it is not clear when the video is from and which police station or unit the policemen seen in it are associated with. No official statement has yet come from the police administration regarding the matter. Nor can it be confirmed whether the conversation seen in the video is related to bribe or any kind of illegal demand.
