A unique experiment is being seen in this special campaign organized by Gumla Administration – awareness with punishment. As per the guidelines of DTO, drivers caught without helmet or illegal license during vehicle checking are not only being punished, but they are also being given special counseling.
Gumla: To stop the increasing road accidents in Gumla district of Jharkhand, the District Transport Department is running an intensive vehicle checking campaign in the entire district. The district administration is now seen in full action mode to curb the increasing road accidents. District Transport Officer (DTO) Gyan Shankar Jaiswal has given a strong message to the people of the district and warned them that the month of December is very sensitive in terms of accidents. More accidents occur in this month, hence negligence towards rules can prove fatal. Under the leadership of District Transport Officer (DTO) Gyan Shankar Jaiswal, an intensive vehicle checking campaign was conducted near Nagfeni. During this time, strict action was taken against those who flouted the safety rules, which created a stir among the drivers.
29 children in an auto
During the investigation, the team was stunned when a total of 29 school children were crammed into an auto, far beyond its capacity. Calling it a serious play with the lives of children, the DTO directed to seize the auto immediately. In this case, legal action is also being taken against the driver and owner concerned. A total of action was taken against more than 50 people for violation of various rules, due to which revenue of about ₹ 1,16,000 was recovered.
DTO Gyan Shankar Jaiswal said that December is the month of accidents. Taking the rules lightly and accidents are two sides of the same coin. You will be safe only as long as you remain alert and drive in a controlled manner. He clearly said that the increasing graph of accidents is directly related to the mentality of the drivers, in which they consider the safety rules as a burden rather than mandatory.
The goal is not to issue an invoice, but to change behaviour.
