Vaishali: The news of suspension of the ongoing training under Yuva Aapda Mitra Yojana run by Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, Patna has come to light. According to the information received, there is deep anger among the youth due to the suspension of the ongoing training for volunteers associated with Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra under Yuva Aapda Mitra Yojana till further orders.
According to the information received, the training of Yuva Aapda Mitra for the volunteers associated with Bharat Scouts and Guides in Vaishali district was organized at Scout Bhawan, Hajipur from 11 December to 17 December. But on the night of 12th December, the very next day after the training started, the training was suddenly postponed without any apparent reason. This unexpected decision caused disappointment and anger among the Scout-Guide volunteers undergoing training.
Volunteers say that there was no chaos of any kind at the training centre. All arrangements for accommodation, food, training material and discipline were satisfactory. Despite this, stopping the training midway is an injustice to the youth. The trainee volunteers said, ‘We are scouts and are bound by the discipline of the organization, hence we did not protest, but this decision is like a betrayal to us. We were taking training in the spirit of service, so that we can help the society and administration in times of disaster.
Besides, the volunteers have also demanded that the state government and the concerned authorities should take special cognizance of this matter and the training should be started again soon. The youth say that leaving the schemes in limbo not only breaks the morale of the volunteers but also raises questions on the disaster management preparedness of the government. Now it remains to be seen what action the authority takes after this demand of the volunteers.
