Hospice. Every year on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 12 January is celebrated as National Youth Day. On this day the memories related to Swami Vivekananda’s Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh also get refreshed. Here he spent about 11 days of his life in a Hari Si Kothi, which is a part of Upper Dharamsala. The name of the Kothi in which Swami Vivekananda stayed has now become Hari Kothi and this Kothi has remained in the ancient style. This earthquake-resistant kothi is built on Khada Danda road, at a short distance from the Kotwali market.
Its owners have completely banned the entry of outsiders inside the kothi, because the memories of Swami Vivekananda have been preserved here. Not only this, a rock has also been established here, in which it is written that from when till how long Swami Vivekananda stayed in this kothi and why he stayed.
However, many contradictions also come to the fore regarding the year established in the rock. People and acquaintances of that time have mentioned that Swami Vivekananda had come here in 1897, while the mention in the rock is of 1887. It is said that Swami Vivekananda’s health had deteriorated, so he was advised to live in a mountainous climate to get health benefits and he stayed for 11 days in this kothi located in Dharamsala only for health benefits.
not allowed to go to kothi
Many people express their desire to go inside the Hari Kothi, despite this, the owner of the Kothi does not allow it to anyone and has kept it closed for the people outside. The caretakers appointed to look after the kothi also follow the orders of their owners in due manner. In such a situation, those who want to remember Swami Vivekananda by going inside the kothi, they also have to remain engrossed. The owner and his friends sometimes come here to spend some time in the summer. It is said that this green kothi from a person named Sohan Bakshi was later bought by the royal family of the princely state of Kutlahar. The family of Rupendra Pal, the next king of the princely state, now lives in Chandigarh and stays in this kothi in summers. On the other hand, Youth Day was to be organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, despite this, Kovid has ruined their plans too.
No event due to corona
In fact, NYKS organizes Youth Day on 12 January every year and after reaching the park above the martyr memorial, Swami Vivekananda is garlanded and to tell the youth about the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and his stay from here to Awareness rally is taken out till Hari Kothi. But this time due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, neither the rally is being organized nor any other big event is being organized. Whatever happens now, it will all be done online. Neelam Chaudhary, accountant of Nehru Yuva Kendra, told that due to Kovid-19, there will be online programs. There will be no physical program to prevent the gathering of the crowd. In Vivekananda Park, only a few people will garland with the Kovid-19 protocol.
