Expert Devendra Dhiwar says that plantation of petunia plants can be done between the months of October and December. If a person wants to include petunia in his garden even in the cold of December, he does not face much trouble. Petunia plant is easily available in the nurseries of the city at a price of just Rs 25. Nowadays, this plant which gives more beauty at less cost is becoming the first choice of the city residents.
Petunia flowers are available in many attractive colors. These include white, red, blue, pink, purple and shaded colors. People can make their garden more beautiful by planting petunias of different colors in the same pot. This plant is not only suitable for courtyards and balconies of homes, but can also be easily grown in terraces and open spaces.
12 inch pot is most suitable
According to gardening experts, a 10 to 12 inch pot is most suitable for planting petunia in a pot. In this, vermicompost, coco peat, straw and normal soil should be mixed well and the plant should be planted. For better growth of the plant and more flowers, it is beneficial to mix mustard cake and neem cake in between and apply it as fertilizer. This provides the plant with essential nutrients and the number of flowers also increases.
Petunia plant needs watering daily, but care should be taken that water does not stagnate in the pot. With proper care its seeds become completely ready in 15 to 20 days. If the sapling is planted from the nursery now, colorful flowers can be seen continuously till the month of March. The special thing is that a healthy petunia plant blooms 3 to 4 flowers every day, due to which the garden always looks blooming.
Due to low cost, easy care and long blooming flowers, Petunia is proving to be an ideal plant for home gardening lovers in the winter season.
