Good News For Sugarcane Farmers: In UP, the government is continuously trying to make the farmers hi-tech and strengthen their economic condition. In the Yogi government, sugarcane farmers are being given gifts one after the other. Now an important step has been taken.
Lucknow: Even though there is still a long time left for the UP assembly elections to be held in the year 2027. But, even before that, CM Yogi Adityanath is continuously opening the treasury for the farmers. Recently, giving a big gift to the sugarcane farmers of the state, he had increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 30 per quintal for the crushing season 2025-26. Now once again a big relief has been given. Yogi government has completely banned charging loading-unloading fees from farmers at sugarcane purchasing centres.

In fact, sugarcane crushing work for 2025-26 has started in most of the sugar mills of the state. Meanwhile, the department was continuously receiving complaints about shortfalls at sugar mill gates and sugarcane purchasing centers and demanding fees from farmers for loading and unloading of sugarcane. On this, the Sugarcane Commissioner asked Minister S. Has given instructions that the Deputy Sugar Commissioner, Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner, District Sugarcane Officer, Assistant Sugar Commissioner and Principal Manager of the sugar mill will ensure that complaints of shortage are not received.
He said that orders are given to completely stop charging loading and unloading fees from farmers at sugarcane purchasing centres. If anyone is found doing this then strict action should be taken. Besides, surprise inspection of sugarcane centers should also be done by forming a team. If any complaint is received during this period, then action should be taken against the concerned personnel and transporter under the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Supply and Purchase Regulation) Rules.
The Commissioner further said that if the complaint regarding duty collection from farmers is found to be true, the responsibility of the guilty weighing clerks, sugar mills and contracted transporters should be fixed. Regional officials have also been asked to curb sugarcane diversion.
4 new sugar mills established in last 8 years
The most important thing is that Yogi government has established 4 new sugar mills in the last 8 years. 6 closed mills were restarted and production capacity of 42 mills expanded. Due to this, there has been an increase in production capacity equivalent to 8 new big mills in the state. Also, CBG plants have been installed in 2 mills, which has also boosted alternative energy production in the sugarcane sector.
