Patna: Bihar Governor Mohammad Arif Khan has expressed strong objection to the recent statement of Maulana Mahmood Madani regarding Jihad. He said that confusion is being spread among the people by giving wrong meaning of Jihad, whereas in Islam Jihad means raising voice against oppression and injustice. The Governor said that helping any poor, weak or oppressed person and standing for his rights is the real jihad. If a person is being oppressed and you help him, then this is the true definition of Jihad in the Quran.
Questions raised on Deoband also
Governor Khan also expressed his objection regarding some books being taught in Deoband. He claimed that there the children are told a different definition of Jihad in Shariat that if a person does not believe in Islam then fighting against him is considered Jihad. He said this book is his, not mine. The Quran does not talk about forced religious conversion. Jihad means protection of humanity. Khan said that if Madani Sahab believes that the struggle against oppression is Jihad, then he should remember the time when Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave their homes. If this is real Jihad, then at such a time Maulana Madani should have been the first to go to Kashmir.
When the Governor was asked a question about the Election Commission’s SIR (Special Revision), he said that this is a completely technical process. If anyone had any objection, he would have given a written complaint. Bihar elections are over. Not even a single person lodged any objection. When the names of doctors in a terrorist case in Delhi surfaced, he said that this is a disease of the same education system in which wrong thinking is created.
What was the controversial statement of Maulana Madani?
Sadar Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani had given a controversial statement in the governing body meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Bhopal. He said that words like ‘Love-Jihad, Land-Jihad, Spit-Jihad’ are a conspiracy to defame Islam. Madani claimed that jihad is a sacred duty and a voice against injustice. Many reactions are coming after this statement.
