New Delhi. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has been at his residence since morning to meet top Indian wrestlers, but no one turned up to meet him. To solve the problem, the Union Minister held a meeting with the officials of the Sports Ministry on Friday, in which DG Sai was also present. At the same time, sources are telling that the wrestlers were supposed to come to meet, but have not come yet because their demands are not being fulfilled. Wrestlers have refused to accept the proposals made by the Sports Ministry so far.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Anurag Thakur has canceled all his programmes. Sports Ministry officials stayed at Anurag Thakur’s residence for several hours, but no player came to meet him, while it was decided on Thursday night that the meeting would be held at his residence in the morning. The meeting, held on the night of January 19, was inconclusive as the angry wrestlers refused to back down from their demand for the government to dissolve the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) immediately.

WFI president accused of sexual harassment by wrestlers
According to sources, the meeting between Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, top officials of the Sports Ministry and the wrestlers lasted for more than four hours late at night, in which many aspects were discussed in detail to resolve the issue. It is also coming to the fore that since the Wrestling Federation is a selected organization it cannot be removed by the ministry in one stroke. Wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), of sexual harassment.

The government put a formula in front of the players
During the meeting, a formula was also kept in front of the players of a government. Under this, the government will set up a three-member committee, which will listen to the complaints of the players and the complaints of harassing women will also be heard. The players have been asked to inform the Sports Ministry whose name they want, but till now the wrestlers have not come back to keep their point. In such a situation, the question arises that what is stopping them from sending their proposals back to the government.

According to sources, the government wants the wrestlers to end their protest, but the players are adamant that the WFI should be dissolved first. A source close to the wrestlers told PTI, “The government can sort out other issues later. We have no problem with this but he should first dissolve the WFI.
