Wolves’ winless start is just two games shy of the Premier League record of 17 games set by Sheffield United in 2020-21.
This has led to unrest and several fan groups organized a boycott of the first 15 minutes of Monday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester United at Molineux to protest against Fosun’s management of the club.
Fosun has owned Wolves since 2016, overseeing their return to the Premier League in 2018 and reaching the Europa League quarter-finals in 2020, but has been accused of overseeing a controlled decline.
Raúl Jiménez, Diogo Jota, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore and Pedro Neto all left after helping Wolves to early success, and fans felt they were not effectively replaced.
Shi has been the target of his followers’ ire for months and long-term frustrations are now boiling over.
“It’s a very natural feeling from the fans,” he told BBC Radio WM. “Five or six years ago we were at some heights, in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and in the quarter-finals in Europe.
“When it reaches those heights, the fans don’t want to let it go. I feel it myself. When you lose something like that it’s a hard blow, so I have empathy.
“I’m not just a fan, I’m the CEO and president of the club. I have to think about how to judge the last decade in a more objective way and think about the next 10 years.”
Jackson, a former Everton and Norwich defender, also wants to talk to the fans.
“Our fans can express their views about Jeff directly to Jeff because he doesn’t shirk the challenge in the stadium,” he said. “The insults directed at the directors’ box go directly to him because he is there and present.
“Come and talk to us, express those views. Hold us accountable. Protest – we get it, we get it. Try to give your energy to the team, but we will listen to you, we will learn and we will try to be better.”
