The salary of Thierry Delaporte, the CEO of IT company Wipro, is more than that of the CEOs of Infosys and TCS.
New Delhi. Thierry Delaporte, CEO of software company Wipro, received a salary of Rs 64 crore in the last financial year. He has become the highest paid CEO in the IT industry. The CEOs of the country’s largest IT company TCS and Infosys are behind them in this respect. Delaporte took over the reins of Wipro in July last year. His payment includes salary of Rs 9.6 crore, commission of Rs 11.2 crore, Rs 5.5 crore as long-term compensation and other income of Rs 37.81 crore. As the CEO of the company, he was offered an annual package of Rs 37.9 crore as well as stock compensation and other benefits.
“Delaport’s package is for the period from July last year to March this year. It includes lump-sum cash reward, annual stock grant and lump-sum RSU,” Wipro said in a regulatory filing.
Rs 11.76 crore paid to the company’s chairman
The company’s chairman Rishad Premji was paid Rs 11.76 crore in the last financial year and Rs 7.43 crore to CFO Jatin Dalal. TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan’s package increased by 53 percent to Rs 20.4 crore in the last financial year. Infosys CEO Salil Parekh’s salary was Rs 49.68 crore, an increase of 45 percent. According to data recently analyzed by Equilar for the Associated Press, the average salary package for a CEO of a 500 S&P company reached USD 12.7 million in the year 2020. This is five per cent higher than the average salary for the same group of CEOs in the year 2019 and a 4.1 per cent increase was seen in the last year’s survey. The AP’s compensation study included salary data from CEOs of S&P 500 companies who have completed at least two years of financial service at their companies, who filed proxy statements between January 1 and April 30.
