Calendula Flower In Winter: As the coldness of December is increasing in Chhattisgarh, the demand for seasonal flowers blooming in this season has also started increasing rapidly. Kuldeep Sahu, gardening expert of Sahu Nursery located in Telibandha area of Raipur, considers calendula to be the most suitable flower to enhance the decoration and color of the house at this time. They say that this plant blooms brilliantly throughout the season during the winter months and adds to the beauty of any small or big garden.
Expert Kuldeep Sahu says that calendula is a seasonal winter flower, which survives well only in cold weather. Its biggest feature is that even with less care, the plant grows rapidly and starts giving dozens of attractive flowers within a few days. At present, this plant is easily available for around Rs 30 in Sahu Nursery located in Raipur, due to which common people are also very excited to plant it in their garden.
Which fertilizer to use?
According to gardening expert Kuldeep Sahu, an 8 to 10 inch pot is considered best for planting calendula. Before planting the plant, a hole must be made in the bottom of the pot for drainage so that the roots do not get damaged due to excess moisture. The plant brought from the nursery can be removed from the polythene and planted directly in the prepared soil. Expert Kuldeep Sahu says that any ordinary fertilizer can be applied for better growth of Calendula, but he especially recommends mixed fertilizer called ‘Garden Grow’. This fertilizer contains nutrients like mustard cake, neem cake, bone mill, DAP, potash and grower, which help in continuous flowering by giving balanced nutrition to the plant. Every 15 days, 2 spoons of it should be poured on the edge of the pot.
It is important to keep Calendula in sunlight during the day, due to which its plants become bushy and grow up to one foot and start giving beautiful flowers continuously. Although this plant is not fragrant, its orange, yellow and ripe lemon colored flowers are so attractive to look at that they increase the beauty of the garden manifold. It is important to be careful about watering. If the soil is already wet then water should not be applied at all. Irrigation should be done only when the soil becomes dry.
