Nainital Weather Before New Year 2026: Before the New Year, the cold is continuously increasing in Nainital, due to which the heartbeats of the tourists have increased. Amidst the falling temperatures and changing weather in the hilly areas, the question is arising whether snowfall will be seen in Nainital till December 31. In such a situation, the eyes of the tourists coming to celebrate the New Year are fixed on the latest weather updates.
Nainital: Before the New Year celebrations, the cold has increased the heartbeats of the people in the famous lake city of Nainital of Uttarakhand. The temperature is continuously falling in the hill city and severe cold is being felt in the morning and evening. In such a situation, the biggest question in the minds of tourists is whether Nainital will be seen covered in snow this time on New Year or not. For the last few days, the effect of cold wave is clearly visible in Nainital and surrounding high altitude areas.
A huge drop in night temperature is being recorded, due to which the cold has increased further. Considering the changing nature of the weather, it is expected that the cold may be at its peak around December 31. However, the picture regarding snowfall is not completely clear yet, but cold winds and movement of clouds are definitely indicating cold weather.
Minimum temperature dropped by 1 degree
Tourists who reached Nainital to celebrate the New Year are seen completely wrapped in warm clothes. Special preparations are being made in hotels, homestays and markets also for the cold. Local people say that if the weather changes, there may be light snowfall on the higher peaks. They are eagerly waiting for snowfall. The cold is expected to increase further in the coming days. These days the minimum temperature in Nainital is being recorded at 1 degree and maximum at 6 degrees. It is getting cold in the morning and evening whereas the weather remains pleasant in the afternoon. In such a situation, if you are planning to come to Nainital on thirty first, then bring warm clothes, jacket and necessary items with you.
Western disturbance can affect the weather
If meteorologists are to be believed, we will have to wait for more snowfall. Skymet Weather Services Vice President and meteorologist Mahesh Palawat says that the weather is dry in Nainital these days. He told that it had rained on 6th October. Since then the weather has remained continuously dry. Almost half of the month of December has passed but till now no major western disturbance has reached the mountains. Generally, two to three western disturbances occur in the month of November, and their intensity further increases in the month of December. But this time it did not happen.
How will the weather be on New Year?
Mahesh Palawat said that there is a possibility of a western disturbance in Ladakh, Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir on 20, 21 and 22 December. Which will not reach Uttarakhand. This means that Uttarakhand is going to remain dry in the coming times also. If we talk about the New Year, the cold increases around Christmas and the Thirty-First. In such a situation, people waiting for snowfall in Nainital will have to wait a little longer. This time the weather is expected to remain clear during the New Year celebrations.
