Himachal Illegal Encroachment Issue: The issue of illegal encroachments has been going on for a long time in Himachal Pradesh. The case of more than 1 lakh 60 thousand illegal occupations in the state was rejected in the High Court and now the matter is in the Supreme Court. Jagat Singh Negi and CM gave assurance in the House, Congress government will file SLP in the Supreme Court.
Hospice. On the sixth day of the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the House once again got heated over the issue of regularizing illegal encroachments. There was a lot of verbal sparring between the ruling party and the opposition on this issue. BJP MLA from Jhanduta Jeet Ram Katwal raised this issue during question hour. There was a long debate on this issue between Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and the CM.
The Leader of Opposition alleged that the government is not serious on the issue of 1 lakh 25 thousand people and even in the High Court, the government could not properly represent the common people. On this, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said in the House that the law made by the previous BJP government on this matter was repealed by the High Court. Now our government is fighting for the rights of 1 lakh 24 thousand 780 people in the Supreme Court. The CM also assured the House that the fight for the interests of the people of Himachal will be fought strongly, not 1 lakh 24 thousand but the interests of 1 lakh 60 thousand people will be protected.
Coming out of the House, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said that the Congress government is only making political statements on this issue while about 1 lakh 25 thousand people are facing the threat of losing their homes and land. Our government fought with full strength but the Congress government spent crores of rupees on lawyers in the CPS case in the Supreme Court and to save its government, but is not fighting for the common people.
BJP misled people-Negi
Jagat Singh Negi said that BJP only misled the public on this issue and made such a policy to take electoral benefits which had no legal strength, now SLP will be filed in the Supreme Court on this issue by the state government. He said that in this case, even if Section 163 of the Land Revenue Act gets recognized by the Supreme Court, it will not provide any benefit because the government does not have the land. All the waste land is forest land, if the central government amends the FCA, then lakhs of people will get relief. At present, Forest Rights Act is the only way left. He said that Jai Ram Thakur will not tell the Supreme Court how to fight the battle, this battle will be fought by the government.
