Chandigarh. Assembly session is going on in Haryana. The session started on Thursday and a lot of commotion was seen on the very first day. Besides, the attire of the MLAs also attracted attention. However, the most important thing on the first day of the session was regarding the no-confidence motion.
During this, the Congress Party presented a no-confidence motion, which was accepted by the Speaker and now it will be discussed on Friday. However, one thing is clear that there is no threat to the Nayab Saini government in Haryana and it has sufficient strength of MLAs.
According to the information, the assembly proceedings will begin at 10:30 on Friday and the Speaker has scheduled the second sitting to discuss the no-confidence motion. Speaker Harvinder Kalyan has given this information in the House.
How many MLAs do BJP, Congress and INLD have in Haryana Assembly?
There are 90 assembly seats in Haryana. BJP had won 48 seats in the assembly elections held in 2024. At the same time, Congress had won 37 seats. Whereas INLD has won on two seats. The important thing is that three independents also reached the assembly after winning and they also support the BJP government. In such a situation, BJP has the support of total 51 MLAs and there is no threat to the government.
No-confidence motions have fallen before too
It is noteworthy that the Congress Party has brought no-confidence motion in the Haryana Assembly twice in the last four years and it was disappointed both times.
On March 10, 2021, the Congress party had brought a no-confidence motion against the then Khattar government. But that no-confidence motion was defeated in the Assembly and 55 votes were cast in support of BJP and 32 against it. After this, during the assembly session on 22 February 2024, Congress again brought a no-confidence motion. But even here the proposal could not survive.
BJP had proved majority after changing CM.
Just six months before the assembly elections in Haryana, a lot of political turmoil was seen. Where BJP had changed the face of the CM. At the same time, ties were also broken with JJP and due to this the government was accused of being in minority. However, later the government proved its majority in the assembly. In the last 2019 assembly elections, BJP had won 40 seats and then formed the government with JJP. JJP had 10 MLAs. Whereas Congress had 28 MLAs.
