In Hindi films, Akshay Kumar’s Baby / Naam Shabana, Arjun Rampal-Irrfan’s D Day. And in the web series on Disney Hotstar, Special Ops starring KK Menon, a Pakistani terrorist has to be brought either from Pakistan to India, or from Dubai or from any other country. The recently released Telugu film Wild Dog on Netflix is different in that it has a terrorist hiding in Nepal and has to bring it from there to India. Apart from this, there is nothing different or new in the film.
Ahishore Solomon is the director of the film Wild Dog. He has written the film as well, and perhaps that is why he was able to get a senior actor like Nagarjuna into the film because Nagarjuna has a habit of reading the director’s body language while listening to the narration of the film. When he feels that the director has complete confidence in his script and on his own, he signs the film. Ahishore had previously directed the film ‘John Day’ starring Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda. The effect of English films on them can be seen clearly.
There are incidents in the film, there is no such special story. References to these events are true events. The screenplay is a bit longer, and could have been better or shorter. Nagarjuna has played the role of an officer of the National Investigation Agency and he works as a commando, and abusing his mother is his favorite job. The film also stars Dia Mirza, Atul Kulkarni and Sayyami Kher. The entire film is woven around Nagarjuna, so most of the action is also focused on him. There are many things in this film like Investigation, Trapping the Terrorist, Changing the Terrorist’s phone, Dialogue of Desh Bhakti. Some scenes are incompatible and have been overlooked by the author, such as the terrorist picking up the pen to write his confession, and he first knows that moving the pen will turn the pen or Nagarjuna’s team in the climax A member of the Indian embassy comes in disguise as an officer, but the marks on his face are clearly visible.
Due to Kovid, its shooting had to be stopped in February 2020. Then the film was completed by shooting from September 2020 to November 2020, who have seen KK Menon’s special ops or Akshay Kumar’s baby, they may not feel anything exciting in this film. The cinematography of the film is done by Shanil Dev, which is right. Editor Shravan Katikaneni has given a good pace to the film, although a little film could have been shorter. The music of this film has been composed by S. Thaman, the super hit composer of Tamil and Telugu films. Although there is no song in the film and it does not have any scope, but background music has kept the pace of the film.
The film is an action-filled thriller. It has 3 action directors. First Jashuva, who directed action films like ‘Saaho’ and ‘The Ghazi Attack’. Apart from this, well-known Shyam Kaushal has been responsible for some major scenes. Apart from these, director Ahishore has given David Ismalon from Hollywood the main responsibility for the action of the film. David himself has been a martial artist and has performed his jauhar in many Hollywood action films such as Ong Baak or Fast and the Furious 7. Due to the action, the film does not swell anywhere.
If you are sitting in lockdown, then this film can be seen. There is nothing new in the film but amateurs of speed and thrill will enjoy the film. It is also a pleasant experience to see Nagarjuna after the big days.
