Kullu News: A wife and husband couple drowned in the Saltulj river in Ani, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Dooni Chand and Sonia, residents of Karsog in Mandi district, drowned in Sutlej river. Police is running a search operation to find both of them. Investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. There was an argument between husband and wife last night and the wife was angry because of this.
Kullu. A couple drowned in the Satluj river in Ani of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The husband who went to save his wife also later drowned, of whom no trace has been found so far. The police team is searching for the couple.
According to the information, this incident occurred near Baihnaghat-Maholi bridge in Ani of Kullu. When a woman jumped into the Sutlej on Wednesday morning, her husband also jumped to save her and both of them drowned in the Sutlej. As soon as the information was received, the team of Police Post Luhri reached the spot and started search and rescue operation on the river bank. The couple drowned in the river has been identified as Dooni Chand (34), son of Baldev Singh, resident of Batana Bhalle Karsog (Mandi) and Sonia (27). Both of them lived in a rented room in Ani Bazar. Dooni Chand used to work in a salon here.
On Tuesday night, Dooni Chand was partying with his relative in his quarter and then he had an argument with his wife Sonia. Everyone slept at night, but Sonia was missing on Wednesday morning. Dooni Chand immediately told his uncle’s son and went out in search of Sonia with his car. During this, his wife Sonia was seen running towards Sutlej, but before he could stop her, Sonia jumped into the river. Dooni Chand also jumped into the river. Sonia’s dupatta and Dooni’s mobile phone have been recovered from the spot.
At present, the search operation is going on to find both of them and the matter is being investigated. The real reasons behind the accident will be known only after investigation.
