Sarhasa: The life of Jaya Kumari, who lived in Patraghat block of Saharsa district of Bihar, away from the crowd, was once full of struggles. The financial condition of the house was so weak that the family could barely survive. Jaya’s husband had to go to other states to work as a labourer. Staying away from home for months and doing hard work, still the household needs could not be met. But it is said that if there is willpower then it does not take long for the circumstances to change, this is what Jaya Kumari proved. Today both of them together are running a successful pickle business.
faced the situation instead of crying
One day Jaya thought how long should she keep crying about the situation? Why not do something so that you can earn money while staying at home. After much thought, she remembered her childhood skills so that her husband does not have to work outside. The family always liked the aroma and taste of pickles made by Jaya’s hands. Jaya talked to her husband about this. Initially the husband hesitated a little. Will he be able to survive by selling pickles? But Jaya did not lose courage. He said why not try it once. If people like the taste then our work will definitely work. It was from here that the new success story of Jaya Kumari started.
Making 20-25 types of pickles
Jaya prepared a small quantity of mango pickle, lemon pickle and chilli pickle at home. Made the neighboring women and a couple of nearby shopkeepers taste the pickles. The taste is such that everyone says wow, we have never eaten such a pickle anywhere. Gradually orders started coming. Jaya’s husband also left his work and held her hand.
Both of them started preparing pickles together. Taking special care of everything like cleanliness, selection of spices, quality of oil, the business was taken forward. Today Jaya Kumari prepares 20-25 types of pickles. In which it prepares mango pickle, amla pickle, murabba, garlic pickle, hot chilli pickle, mixed pickle and many other delicious pickles. Their packing, quality and taste created a stir in the surrounding area. Now their pickles have started being supplied to many markets and shops.
Jaya Kumari says today our family is happy and prosperous. Children’s education and household needs are all being taken care of easily. The biggest happiness is that my husband no longer goes away from home to work. Husband sells pickles in the markets. Every shop supplies. Orders are also available.
However, this story of Jaya and her husband is not just a success story but a message. When husband and wife support and trust each other, any difficult path becomes easy. Even a seemingly small task like eating can give huge recognition and success. Provided there is hard work, dedication and quality, Kumari is today inspiring many women of her area. They are teaching them that work can be started from home and can be progressed further. Today Jaya is earning Rs 35 thousand per month after cutting all the expenses. That means annual turnover of Rs 4.20 lakh. But they intend to expand it to India along with Bihar.
