Kharmas 2025: Like every year, this time too the period of Kharmas will start from 15th December, due to which marriages, house warming and all auspicious auspicious functions are stopped. According to the Hindu calendar, when the Sun enters Sagittarius, auspicious activities are prohibited for a month. In simple words, no new auspicious work is done during this period due to religious beliefs.

Haridwar’s Pandit Shridhar Shastri said that on Monday, December 15, the ‘Lord of the Planets’, Sun God, will enter the Sagittarius sign of Jupiter. When the Sun enters the Sagittarius sign, the strength and auspicious effect of Jupiter becomes weak, due to which doing auspicious work during this period will not yield any auspicious results. Due to the strength of Jupiter, auspicious works are done, but when the Sun transits in the zodiac sign of Jupiter, then the auspicious date for all these works is not mentioned in the scriptures. In the year 2025, Sun will enter Jupiter’s Sagittarius at 3:36 pm on 15th December and will transit in Sagittarius till 14th January 2026.
When does Kharmas appear?
According to astrologer’s calculations, Sun God stays in one zodiac sign for about 30 days. Among all the 12 zodiac signs, Sagittarius and Pisces are dedicated to Jupiter, hence when Sun God enters Sagittarius or Pisces, Kharmas begins. Auspicious and auspicious works are not done in Kharmas. Because when the Sun enters Sagittarius or Pisces, the strength of Jupiter and the brightness of the Sun diminishes. The planet Sun is the ‘factor of soul and father’ whereas Jupiter is the factor of auspicious works like marriage, education etc., hence due to less strength and brilliance, there is a possibility of auspicious tasks not being completed.
