Unknown Facts: Since childhood, we have heard the lion being called the king of the jungle in stories and legends, but have you ever wondered why only the lion is considered deserving of this title? Whereas many more powerful animals like elephant, bear and leopard are also present in the forest.
Actually, the lion is called king not only because of his strength, but because of his courage, leadership ability and influential nature. The lion lives in a group, which is called a ‘pride’. He is responsible for the safety of his entire group. Whether the danger is from another lion or from any other animal, the lion always remains ahead to protect his herd. This quality makes him a natural leader.
The lion’s nature is not to hide. It prefers to live in open fields and wide areas of grass instead of dense forests, which reflects its fearless and confident personality. This fearless style of his makes him different from other animals.
Although the elephant is the largest in size. The bear is mostly powerful and the cheetah is the fastest animal, but the personality and dominance of the lion is on a different level from all of them. His roar is heard for 8 to 10 kilometers, which gives the message of his dominance in the entire forest.
The lion is not only strong but also an intelligent hunter. During hunting, lions and lionesses make strategies together, due to which the strength of their herd increases manifold and they are able to face even bigger and faster animals.
Another special thing is that the lion does not hunt unnecessarily. He hunts only when he or his herd needs food, so that everyone’s energy remains intact.
If we compare lion and leopard, even though leopard is a fast and dangerous hunter, it is weak and often loses its prey to other powerful animals. The bear, despite being extremely powerful, is a solitary animal. He neither has leadership qualities nor the tendency to rule an area by living in a herd. This is the reason why the bear is not considered the king of the jungle.
