New Delhi. This time China has decided to lift the ban on the proposal to declare Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist. Talking about the reason behind this move of China, former Ambassador of India to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin said that Beijing took this decision because it does not want to be isolated globally.
This move by China cleared the way for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to declare Makki a global terrorist by the 1267 ISIL (Daesh) and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee. Regarding this, Syed Akbaruddin said, ‘Why would a country like China want to be seen as the protector of terrorism? Surely he is doing this at the behest of Pakistan. But there are some limits and till there China will compromise with its interests on behalf of Pakistan.

Akbaruddin said, ‘We want China’s support not only on terrorism but also on important issues of national sovereignty. It also needs to address our primary concerns on the border. After some hiccups, it is ready to address issues related to terrorism.
