During Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, PM Narendra Modi chose Toyota Fortuner, which sent the message of ‘Make in India’ and gave a symbolic reply to European brands. Convoys usually consist of armored vehicles, and support cars such as Fortuner and Innova are added for operational flexibility. But this time the simple number plate of the Fortuner attracted attention, because vehicles with special plates or without number are usually used in VIP movements.
New Delhi. Russian President Vladimir Putin was recently on a visit to India. There was a lot of discussion about his visit to India all over the world. Putin visited India after 4 years. He was welcomed on the red carpet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, breaking protocol, hugged him on the tarmac and shook hands warmly. Both the leaders reached the Prime Minister’s residence for a private dinner in the same car. But what caught most attention was that PM Modi chose a white Toyota Fortuner for this journey instead of his usually used Range Rover.
Why did Modi-Putin ride in Toyota Fortuner?
Although, no official reason for this has been revealed, but many theories have emerged regarding why the Japanese brand car was chosen, when the whole world was keeping an eye on this car diplomacy. Additionally, the Fortuner Sigma 4 (MT) had a Maharashtra number plate. Interestingly, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also chose a white Fortuner to lay wreath at the National War Memorial along with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov.
