Tirupati Laddu Prasad Scam: SIT has made the first arrest in the Laddu Ghee scam in Tirupati. The team has detained senior engineering department officer RSSVR Subramaniam. Till now SIT has named 29 accused in this case. These include about 10 dairy owners and representatives.
Tirupati Laddu Prasad Scam: The issue of adulteration in the laddu prasad of the world famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has now reached the innermost circles of the temple administration. Now the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday arrested senior TTD officer RSSVR Subramaniam.
Let us tell you, Subramaniam was the General Manager (Purchase) in Tirupati from 2019 to 2024 and during the same period, he was responsible for the purchase of ingredients like ghee, cashew, cardamom worth hundreds of crores of rupees. This arrest is a clear indication that the laddu scam was not limited to outside suppliers only, but there was a deep nexus within TTD as well.
what was the whole matter
In fact, what happened was that in September 2024, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had revealed in the Assembly that during the YSRCP regime (2019-2024), instead of pure desi ghee, cheap palm oil, fish oil and even beef tallow (animal fat) was mixed in the laddus offered to Lord Venkateswara Swamy. When the lab reports confirmed these allegations, there was tremendous anger among the devotees across the country.
The matter reached the Supreme Court and the court ordered a CBI investigation. When CBI’s SIT started the investigation, shocking revelations were made one after the other. Till now, a total of 29 people have been made accused in this case, out of which about ten dairy owners and their representatives have already been sent to jail.
Senior officers directly arrested
With Subramaniam’s arrest, for the first time a senior TTD official has been directly detained. Investigating officers believe that adulteration on such a large scale would not have been possible without the connivance of inside officials.
