While giving more information about this to Local 18, DRM Vinod Bhatia of Ambala Railway Division said that he had received information that today farmers are going to protest by sitting on the railway tracks in Punjab at about 8 to 9 places under Ambala Railway Division, in view of which they have completed their preparations and along with the railway employees, RPF and GRP teams have been alerted.

What is the reason for the demonstration?

The farmers’ protest will affect the movement of trains in many districts passing through 19 districts including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Bathinda. According to the farmers, the Central Government has not yet taken any decision on many other demands including MSP, due to which this agitation is being carried out.

Railways also tightened its belt

He said that the team is keeping a close watch so that there is no damage to any kind of railway property. He also said that keeping in view the convenience of the passengers, Ambala Railway Division has made preparations and water arrangements have been made at all the stations. Along with this, announcements are being made that trains may be late, but no train has been cancelled.

He told that he is associated with the local administration of Railways in Punjab, along with this, keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers at all the major stations, facilities are being provided to the passengers by regularizing trains at all the major railway stations. He said that he wants to request the people that railway is public property, hence it is the responsibility of all of us to protect it.

The general public will face problems

He said that farmers will protest in Punjab for some time, due to which many trains will get delayed and the general public will have to face a lot of trouble.
