161 gelatin sticks were found
Let us tell you that on November 21, there was a stir when 161 sticks of explosive material gelatin were found in the bushes near a school in Salt area of Almora district in Uttarakhand. However, Almora Senior Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha had said on Sunday that preliminary investigation has not revealed any possibility of it being linked to any terrorist incident and this case seems to be due to negligence of a contractor. The matter came to light on November 21 when Principal Subhash Singh, in-charge of Government Higher Secondary School, Dabhra, located in Salt area, saw some suspicious packets in the bushes near the campus and informed the police.
Gelatin rods were recovered from the bushes behind the school.
As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and for security reasons the entire area was cordoned off. After this, bomb disposal squad and dog squad were called to the spot from Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts with the help of which a detailed search operation was conducted in the area. Police had said that first some packets of gelatin sticks were recovered from a place near the school and then some more packets were found at a distance of about 15-20 feet from it. A total of 161 cylindrical rods of gelatin kept in several packets were recovered from both the places. The bomb disposal squad took all the packets to a safe place and sealed them.
FIR was registered against unknown persons
Police said that the entire operation was videographed and evidence was collected. A case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 4(a) of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Section 288 of the Indian Justice Code. Pincha said that four teams have been formed to investigate the matter and in the preliminary investigation so far, there has been no connection of the gelatin sticks with any terrorist incident.

He told that gelatin rods are used by contractors to break stones and rocky rocks during road construction. He said that the contractors and laborers of the area are being extensively interrogated in this regard so that the whole truth can be revealed soon. Pincha said, ‘A road was constructed at this place a few years ago and it is possible that the contractor may have left the gelatin sticks in the bushes.’ However, he made it clear that a final conclusion can be reached only after a complete investigation.
