The Central Government has announced the date of release of the 21st installment of PM Kisan. Under the scheme started in 2019, the government has so far provided financial assistance of Rs 3.70 lakh crore to more than 11 crore eligible farmers. Under this scheme, farmers are given an assistance of Rs 6000 every year.
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to release the 21st installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi on 19th November. Under this scheme, farmers get direct financial assistance of Rs 6000 in a year and lakhs of farmers get relief when every installment is released. According to the Agriculture Ministry, under the PM Kisan Yojana, assistance worth more than Rs 3.70 lakh crore has been sent directly to the bank accounts of more than 11 crore farmer families in 20 installments. The government says that this amount has helped the farmers in handling the expenses related to farming like fertilizers, seeds, medicines and many families have also covered the expenses like education, medical and marriage with it.
The Agriculture Ministry said in a statement that this transfer to be held on November 19 will be completely portal based and only those farmers whose land records are linked to PM Kisan Portal and their bank account is seeded with Aadhaar number will get the benefit. The government is continuously running a special campaign at the village level so that every eligible farmer can be included in the scheme.
Benefits also proved in international studies
The International Food and Policy Research Institute studied the impact of this scheme in 2019. According to the report, the funds received from PM Kisan increased economic activities in rural areas, reduced the borrowing problems of farmers and increased the necessary investment in farming. The government claims that this help has stabilized the economic condition of small and marginal farmers.
It will be easy to benefit from Farmer Registry
The Agriculture Ministry has recently started the initiative of Farmer Registry so that farmers will not need to submit documents again and again. This database will be completely organized and checked so that the benefits of social security schemes can be availed quickly and without any hassle. The aim of the government is to provide assistance to every eligible farmer till the last mile.
History of PM Kisan
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was started on 24 February 2019. Initially this scheme was only for small and marginal farmers but later it was extended to all landholding farmers. The objective of the scheme was to provide minimum financial security to the farmers for regular expenses and emergency needs of farming. As soon as the first installment was released, this scheme created a huge reach among the farmers across the country. Over time, it was further strengthened technically by adding portal based verification, Aadhaar seeding and direct benefit transfer. Today it has become the country’s largest direct income support scheme, which is directly impacting crores of families.
