Bihar Panchayat Chunav 2026: The State Election Commission clarified that Panchayat elections will be conducted before December 2026. This time elections will be conducted through EVMs. The State Election Commission says that the reservation process will be completed as per the Constitution.
Patna. Amidst the confusion regarding Panchayat elections, the State Election Commission has issued important instructions clarifying the situation. The Commission has made it clear that the misleading information being spread on social media regarding reservation in Panchayats has nothing to do with the truth. According to the State Election Commission, general elections for various posts of Panchayat will be held before December 2026 and its preparations will be completed on time. The State Election Commission has clarified that this time Panchayat elections will be conducted through Multi Post EVM. This will make the election process more transparent, faster and secure.
According to the Commission, the work of reservation for the posts of Mukhiya, Sarpanch, Panchayat Samiti member and Zilla Parishad member will be completed soon. The Commission also said that as per the rules, reservation of posts in the Panchayat is changed after every two elections. Panchayat elections were held in the year 2016 and 2021, hence now reservation will be implemented afresh on all the posts in the elections to be held before 2026.
This means that this time the process of determining reservation for all Panchayat posts will be completed. The State Election Commission made it clear that the reservation process is being done completely under the provisions of the Constitution and the Panchayat Act. In this, the reservation rules set for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes, Backward Classes and women will be completely followed. The Commission also said that there is no confusion regarding any Panchayat or post.
After rumors regarding reservation spread on social media, the Commission has intervened and appealed to the people to trust only the official information. The Commission has warned that action can also be taken against those spreading misinformation. According to the State Election Commission, Panchayat elections are the root of democracy and it is the priority of the Commission to conduct them in a timely, fair and transparent manner. After the completion of the reservation process, the election dates and program will be formally announced.
Overall, it has become clear from the instructions of the State Election Commission that Panchayat elections will neither be postponed nor is there any uncertainty regarding reservation. General elections for Panchayats will be held in the state before December 2026 and reservation will be applicable on all posts.
