Patna. Indian Railways has high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express, but their fares are heavy on the pocket of the common passenger. In such a situation, if the speed is like Rajdhani Express and the fare is almost half then it is no less than a bonus. A superfast train running between Patna and Delhi has turned this dream into reality. This special train running from Bihar is a boon for those passengers who want fast travel but cannot pay the expensive fare. Its speed is equal to Rajdhani Express, but the fare is almost half. This is the reason why this train has remained the first choice of passengers for years. Informally people fondly call it ‘Aam Aadmi ki Rajdhani Express’.

Nitish Kumar brought ‘revolution’ in 2002
During the tenure of the then Railway Minister Nitish Kumar, Sampoorna Kranti Express left for New Delhi from Patna for the first time on 17 February 2002. At that time only Magadh and Purva Express were considered fast trains for Bihar. Due to less stoppages and better timing, this train started being counted among the fastest superfast trains from the very beginning. Running a fast but economical train on a busy route like Patna-Delhi was considered a big gift for the people of Bihar.
From ICF to LHB, increasing speed
Initially this train ran at a speed of 110–120 km/hr with ICF coaches. Due to less stoppages, it was counted among the fastest superfast trains of that era. After about 10 years, it got modern LHB coaches and then its speed increased to 130 km/h. From 8 August 2015, Sampoorna Kranti Express started running regularly at a speed of 130 km/h.
Many records in the name of Sampoorna Kranti
Why not call it the capital of the common man!
Sampoorna Kranti Express is not just a train, but an example of the thinking of Indian Railways in which there is a balance of speed, convenience and economy. This train proves that fast travel is not only for the rich but also for the common man. For this reason, passengers believe that calling it ‘common man’s Rajdhani Express’ is absolutely right.
